The Open Day at the University of Greenwich on Saturday 13 March is your chance to see and experience at first hand either our magnificent Greenwich Campus alongside the Thames, our beautiful Avery Hill Campus set in parkland or our splendid Medway Campus at the heart of the developing area of Chatham Maritime.

Tutors to talk to

Each stand at the Open Day will be staffed by tutors from the various disciplines and you will have time to question them in detail about any of the courses we offer. Please go to either Greenwich, Avery Hill or Medway depending on which subject area interests you. You can use our free bus service to travel between campuses or our recruitment staff will tell you about subjects taught at our other campuses.

Academic staff will be available from all our schools:

  • Architecture & Construction at Avery Hill, with some construction programmes at Medway
  • Business at Greenwich
  • Business, Information Technology and Enterprise (BITE) at Medway
  • Computing & Mathematical Science at Greenwich
  • Education & Training including primary, secondary and post-16 teaching at Avery Hill
  • Engineering at Medway
  • Health & Social Care including nursing and midwifery at Avery Hill with nursing and speech and language therapy at Medway
  • Humanities including law and languages at Greenwich
  • Natural Resources Institute at Medway
  • Pharmacy at Medway
  • Science at Medway

Other academics will be on hand to explain foundation degrees.

Other options available

At this Open Day you can find out about the incredible variety of possibilities available at our Partner Colleges, but if you have already decided to chose a programme at a Partner College you should visit the partner college concerned and not come to main university campuses. Please see your college's web site for details of their next open day.

Expert Advice on hand

Staff from the Student Centre will be at our Open Day to answer questions on finance, careers and disability or dyslexia issues.

Recruitment Officers will advise you how to apply to university.

If your subject area is not covered by one of the above talks, our academic staff will be happy to talk to you individually.

Tours of the Campus and Accommodation

There will be general campus tours every half hour taking in our modern facilities as well as the historic and impressive architecture, there will also be tours to see the student accommodation. At Greenwich Campus, tours will walk to Cutty Sark Halls every half hour and there will be a coach tour at 11.30am to visit the McMillan Students Village, just 5 minutes away, which will return by 12.30pm. You may want to include our purpose built Avery Hill Student Village in your visit as many new students will live there.

Specialist Tours at each Campus

Avery Hill

Architecture & Construction have extensive studios on Mansion Site and these can be seen by joining a campus tour which will finish at the studios.

Education & Training facilities will be shown as part of the general campus tour of Avery Hill.

Health & Social Care will be showing their specialist skills labs.

Greenwich

Business School facilities will be shown as part of the general campus tour of Greenwich.

Computing and Mathematical Sciences will be taking those interested in computing and related subjects to see their specialist computer laboratories. These tours will be run throughout the day. There will also be a chance to visit the purpose built Film and TV studios at Avery Hill by taking our free bus service from Greenwich to Avery Hill and joining in a campus tour which will end at the studios.

Humanities and Social Sciences will be conducting specialist tours of their media facilities and more general tours throughout the day. There will also be a special Criminology Taster Session from 2pm to 3pm in Queen Anne Court.  A drama facilities coach trip will take anyone with an interest to see the theatre space in Woolwich. It will leave at 2pm from Queen Anne Court and return about 3.45pm.

Medway

Engineering will be showing visitors their advanced facilities after their subject talk.

Science will be taking visitors to see their laboratories at 2pm including their well equipped Sports Science, Biology and Chemistry labs.

Open 10am to 3pm

The Open Day runs from 10am to 3pm and you are welcome to drop in at any time, but if you wish to catch particular talks or to savour the full flavour of our campuses, we do advise you come early.

Refreshments

Free tea, coffee, fruit juice and biscuits are provided at the Open Day. In addition, a variety of cafés, restaurants and shops are located on the campuses, some of which will be serving that day.

Free bus service

There will be a regular free shuttle bus service between the Southwood Site Gatehouse, Avery Hill Campus and Queen Anne Court, Greenwich Campus. The first bus will leave at 9.30am and then about every half hour until 3.30pm. There is no need to book for the Avery Hill / Greenwich service.

There will also be a free bus service between Queen Anne Court, Greenwich Campus and the Pilkington Building, Medway Campus. Times as follows:

Parking at Greenwich

There is plenty of parking available at both Avery Hill and Medway Campuses on a Saturday.

There is no public parking available on the Greenwich Campus. There are pay-and-display car parks close by, but these are expensive and often congested. The traffic in the area is very busy so we would advise you to come by public transport if at all possible. You could park on Avery Hill Campus and use our free bus service to travel to Greenwich Campus.

Parking for people with specific mobility requirements is automatically available for blue badge holders and it can be arranged for others by contacting Derek Norris beforehand (see below).
