5HARE – university car share scheme
|
Welcome to 5HARE the University’s on-line private car share scheme hosted by Liftshare.com. To increase registered journeys we have teamed up with our partners in Medway; University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University, Mid Kent College and also University for the Creative Arts to develop the 5HARE scheme. This enables you to broaden your search to staff and students of these universities. However, as a member of Greenwich you can choose to share with just other members of the University. You can also select just staff or just students.
All you need to register with the scheme is a University email address and details about your journey(s). It is totally free and a great way of saving money. When you register a journey you can search for other existing members with a suitable journey match. Once registered the system will alert if new members have logged suitable journeys. It is then up to you to get in contact via the system and make arrangements. You do not have to be offering a lift you can also register as someone looking for a lift. The more people that register journeys the better chance of finding a convenient match.

Further benefits for staff using Avery Hill Campus
Staff who are registered with the scheme and have set up a car share BUDi can park in designated priority car share bays. These are reserved until 10.00am but after this time can be used by anyone. The bays are available at Southwood Site near the gatehouse and at Mansion Site in one of the Honeycombe quadrangles.
To use these bays a car share priority parking disc must be on display in the vehicle and at least one passenger (staff or student) must be carried - it doesn't have to be a regular arrangement with the same BUDi. If you use more than one vehicle a disc will be required for each. The normal parking tariff still applies and this is not covered by your car share disc. The car share priority bays are available to staff from all campuses registered with 5HARE.
Share of Annual Staff Permits
Staff can nominate a second vehicle registration number on an annual parking permit. This can cover a regular car share partner who also drives. In this case the lead member of staff applying for the permit pays the full price from their salary and the car share partner reimburses the cost according to use. The disc is shared between the staff members' two vehicles.
