Parking at Avery Hill campus

public transport

There are new parking charges at Avery Hill Campus from September. All staff, students and visitors can continue to park on the campus, however from 1 September 2009 a parking charge is required to use any of the university's car parks.

Staff and student residents at Avery Hill Campus can alternatively purchase an annual permit. Old free issue staff and student parking permits are now obsolete.

Vehicles must be parked in the marked bays and these are available on a ‘first come first served’ basis. Parking elsewhere on the campus is liable for a parking fine.

Daily tickets

You must pay to park during Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm (excluding public holidays and the period between Christmas Day and New Years Day).

  • Up to 2 hours £1
  • Up to 4 hours £2

These can be purchased in cash using coins at the pay-and-display machine. Your vehicle registration number must be entered at the machine and this is then printed onto the ticket. Alternatively you can pay by phone* using a credit/debit card.

Staff from other campuses travelling on university business where the journey is essential by car will be able to reclaim the cost of daily tickets as part of their travel expenses.

Important information about Mansion Site car parks

The university has made major improvements to the nursery 'gravel' car park at the Mansion Site. A new surface has been laid, parking bays created; and to increase security, more lighting and CCTV installed.

The Rose Garden car park (the tarmac car park containing trees) at the Mansion site belongs to Greenwich Council. This car park is currently free to use but does contain some space reserved specifically for users of Avery Hill Park.

The approach road to the nursery is owned by the university and the parking bays contained here are subject to the charges.
