Natalie Shroeder Faculty of Architecture, Computing & Humanities

Third year Law student Natalie Shroeder tells you about her experiences studying at the University of Greenwich.

Even before I applied, I knew I wanted to come to the University of Greenwich. While the lectures seemed interesting, the academics seemed passionate at Open Days, it was the location itself that always left me in awe.

Three years after submitting my application, attending an interview, and being made an offer, I'm now coming to the end of my LLB degree. While it's been challenging, it's also been amazing. Studying a degree with such a wide range of modules, in an environment with consistent support from fellow students and lecturers, has helped me develop the confidence I've needed to produce my best work.

By being given the chance to engage in 'hot topics', like EU Law, I've had a realistic understanding of the world we live in, which I know will benefit me when working as a solicitor. The strong focus on employment opportunities really gave me the chance to make an informed decision on what area of law really suited me.

Anyone studying, or planning to study, knows that there is a lot of reading and research involved! When generating my timetable, there's always been a great balance of time in and out of class. I may have had classes four or five days a week, but each module will usually have its classes in one day, which really helps when it comes to time management!

As students, there are various opportunities for us to be heard. We've built a good network through monthly meetings with personal tutors and student reps, along with online surveys. These all give us the chance to voice how we're feeling, whether it's good or bad. When looking at universities, it was so important to me that I studied somewhere that would give me the chance to work with staff and students to ensure I was happy with every part of my student experience.

The past three years have been filled with exciting opportunities, interesting subjects, supportive staff and amazing friends, but most of all, wonderful memories! The University of Greenwich has gone a long way to prepare me, not only for my LPC and Masters next year, but also to join the real world of work!

Having passion, determination and current awareness about your subject of choice will not only benefit you while applying and interviewing, but will also make studying much easier. If you're considering applying to the University of Greenwich, be excited! This university is one of the most welcoming, happy and invigorating places to study!
