I have worked at the University of Greenwich since completing my MSc in Scientific and Engineering Software Technology. As a research assistant, I undertook a PhD study investigating the reverse and re-engineering of a legacy CFD code into an interactive and object oriented environment. This research formed the basis of the SMARTFIRE Fire Field Modelling Environment that is both a commercial product and a tool for the many diverse research projects conducted by the Fire Safety Engineering Group.

I continued as a Research Fellow and then as a Senior Research Fellow as FSEG have evolved the SMARTFIRE software and helped to train professionals from the fire community about the correct usage and benefits of Computational Fire Engineering.

My latest research projects include understanding the dynamics of fires in waste bales, two way coupled Fire and Evacuation modelling (e.g. DSTG project developing a system to evaluate naval ship survivability) and the development of active signage for smart buildings (e.g. EU GETAWAY project).
I have a keen interest in Fire Field Modelling, CFD, Human Computer Interaction, Data Visualisation, BIM, Graphics, and VR. I also enjoy software design, development and programming.
Outside of University, I am a keen photographer, walker, reader and I enjoy films, theatre and travel.

Qualifications

MSc in Scientific and Engineering Software Technology.
PhD in re-engineering and development of an object-oriented, interactive, event-driven CFD code from a legacy FORTRAN code.
