Trevor Goul-Wheeker, Chairman of Blackwell'sHow to stay ahead in business when all around you is changing rapidly is the topic of the university’s next Big Picture seminar.

Trevor Goul-Wheeker, the Chairman of publishing giant Blackwell’s, will outline some of the challenges he has faced in the past three decades, and will discuss how the ‘digital revolution’ has created both the biggest threat and opportunity for business so far.

In the same seminar Matthew Cashmore, Blackwell’s Digital Director, will describe how the company is exploiting digital technologies to remain the UK’s leading supplier of academic material to students and universities, in the face of overwhelming competition from online retailers such as Amazon.

This free event, called Managing change: Digital transformation – the final frontier, takes place on Wednesday 16 October at the Greenwich Campus.

Run by the university’s Business School, the Big Picture seminar series sees high-profile speakers sharing their expertise on a range of topics from entrepreneurship, leadership and management to economics and the media. All are welcome, including staff, students and the general public.

Big Picture events are hugely popular, and registration in advance is essential.

He has held a number of senior positions in a wide range of companies and business sectors, including WHSmith Retail and Reed Health Group. Matthew Cashmore was previously Digital Development Director for Hachette UK, where he took a leading role in digital research and operations across the group's publishers. He has held senior roles with Lonely Planet and the BBC, where he led various digital and research projects.
