Change, trust and incentives: New book by business expertManaging and adapting to change in the workplace is the theme of a new book by University of Greenwich lecturer Nic Vine.

The title, due to be launched next month, provides insights, guidance and tips for young professionals, as well as for those with more experience, on the factors that make or break our management of change.

Nic, a Visiting Lecturer with the university's renowned Business School, says: "We all operate with the incentive of self. Trust is a terribly fragile thing. Successful change requires the sensitive understanding and management of our incentives and our trust.

"The book reinforces, through engaging real life case studies, personal anecdotes and practical advice, the need for businesses to focus on their people. While methodology and technology have their place, what's really important is how people and organisations see themselves and others.

It's vital to understand how we communicate, how we think about planning, and how we are affected by past experiences and future expectations.

"Incentives and trust are what make or break our management of change."

The book, How Can We Make This Happen?: Successful Change Through Incentives and Trust, will be launched on Thursday 8 September at Waterstones in Greenwich, from 6pm. All are welcome to attend. The event will be introduced by Jon Sibson, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Business School.
