Centre for Governance, Risk & Accountability

The Centre's strategy is to create a virtuous circle of learning and enterprise between industry, public sector, business and local community, and academia.

Within the three main areas of Corporate and Economic Governance, Risk Management and Accountability the Centre brings together researchers from the University of Greenwich in the following areas:

  • Corporate Governance
  • Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Risk Management
  • Banking Regulation and Supervision
  • Accounting and Business Ethics
  • Performance Management and Control
  • Other related expertise, e.g. Economic Governance, Microfinance, Sustainability, International Accounting Standards

With the increasing success of the Centre over the past few years, in 2015-16 we developed two sub-groups, one focussed on accounting and governance, and the other on banking and finance. Each group holds regular seminars.

The Centre is supported by two Visiting Professors:

Professor David Otley, Distinguished Professor of Accounting and Management (Emeritus), Lancaster University Management School and

Professor Laura Spira, Professor of Corporate Governance (Emeritus), Oxford Brooks University.
The Centre enjoys extensive industry and professional links especially with the financial services industry and with accounting and finance professional bodies, including ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, AIA, and MCA.
