"I undertook a placement with SONY's Digital team and it has truly been an unforgettable and invaluable experience. Choosing to take a placement year was definitely the right choice. From managing multi-million euro budgets, to being flown to Barcelona on business meetings and tweeting about latest product releases, my day-to-day jobs have not only improved my personal skills, but they are also truly exciting! I have made friends for life, and developed huge contacts for my future career."

"Getting offered a placement straight after my internship at Northern Trust (NT) was truly an incredible opportunity. As cliché as it may sound, working for a bank like NT in Canary Wharf was a dream I was hoping to chase after graduation. However, with the support from the Business School Employability Office, I was able to gain insight of the banking and finance sector, and take my word for it, it's a definite eye opener. As NT is an emerging bank, there are endless opportunities for an intern to take advantage of. However, let's be honest, the banking sector is incredibly competitive and bosses won't accept anything less than hard work and dedication. If you can deliver this, not only will they invest in enhancing your professional skills but they'll also make you feel like a part of their "working family", even if you're just an intern. Undertaking this placement after my second year was the best choice of my undergraduate career and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to get some experience prior to graduation."

"The Marketing and Admin Assistant placement at the University of Greenwich Business School gave me the opportunity to work on many different projects and learn how various marketing concepts and theories work in practice. I developed my teamwork, communication and prioritisation skills. I have used my communication and customer service skills on a daily basis when dealing with other departments, current and prospective students, and external suppliers. I am now more confident in working to tight deadlines while producing high quality work. The role provided me with experience in areas such as communications, writing promotional copy, producing printed marketing materials and CRM. I believe I acquired very valuable experience, knowledge and skills while working in a great team."

"Taking a placement year was one of the single best decisions that I made during my time at the University of Greenwich. I first became interested in doing an industrial placement on a whim and I quickly saw the benefits when I started! My placement year was at IBM, which allowed me to put some of the theory I learnt in the classroom to practise. I was also able to make real-world decisions and see hard work that I had put in come to fruition and impact such a big company; a rewarding feeling. Now looking back on what I gained from my placement year  I've left a lot more confident, with more opportunities and a broader network than I would have  if I had opted for a straight three year programme. Competition upon graduation is rife and a placement year will really put you ahead of the competition who may have less experience to show. I honestly cannot think of any reasons not to do a placement year so if you're up for a rewarding experience and serious about your employment prospects after you graduate, a Sandwich Degree is for you!"
