Dr Andres Coca-Stefaniak joined the Business School attracted by the quality of teaching and research dynamism, as well as the university's commitment to entrepreneurship, sustainability and student employability.

Andres' background is in the management and promotion of cities and destinations. He is co-editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Tourism Cities and a member of the UK Government's Future High Streets Forum. Prior to joining the University of Greenwich, Andres was Head of Research and International Partnerships at the Association of Town and City Management and an academic member of staff at a number of universities with responsibility for teaching, research and Masters-level programme leadership. His experience includes securing European Union funding for projects and managing large European transnational project partnerships in a variety of fields, including sustainable events, culture-led urban revitalisation events, destination management, place management and retail entrepreneurship with project partners in 17 countries. He was also founding editor-in-chief of the Journal of Town and City Management and contributed to the founding of the Institute of Place Management.

Before going into academia, Andres worked seven years as a mineral resources engineer for Shell International and Anglo American plc. with direct field management responsibility for 35 staff.
