In the spring of 2007, immediately after receiving her PhD in Urban Studies from the University of Quebec in Montreal, Dr Katia Iankova accepted a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Tourism Department at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. There, Dr Iankova taught and served as Chair of Tourism studies from 2007-10. In August 2010, Dr Iankova was accepted as a Senior lecturer in the Marketing Events and Tourism (MET) Department at the Business School of the University of Greenwich where she is teaching already for a third year.

Dr Iankova enjoys teaching and the interaction with the students in either large (Greenwich) or small size (Memorial) groups. Katia's teaching has been one of the most gratifying and happiest experiences of her career and Katia has received good evaluations from her students and peers.

Dr Iankova's current research projects are oriented in three major streams: i) Sustainable Practices and the Use of Alternative Energies in Hospitality and Accommodation; ii) Climate Change and Adaptation Strategies of Tourism and Travel Industries: Trans-border European Experiences; iii) Youth and the Labor Market: Opportunities and Challenges.
