Overseas qualifications

Overseas qualifications equivalent to A-levels, AVCEs, GCSEs and the others mentioned above are accepted. Further information can be obtained from your local British Council office or by contacting the university International Office on +44 (0)20 8331 9770 or e-mailing international@gre.ac.uk.

Language skills

If English is not your first language, you will need to provide proof of your fluency in English before you can begin a programme. The main systems for measuring this are IELTS with a minimum score of 6.0 for degree programmes or TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 for degree programmes. Recently the TOEFL computer-based test has been abolished to make way for the introduction of the Internet-based test, gradually eliminating the traditional paper-based method. Other qualifications may be satisfactory. We can tell you what is acceptable.

If your scores are lower, you may wish to apply for a course to improve your English. We have short pre-sessional English courses, a full-time English language access course and an International Foundation Programme.
