Health Combined Degrees

The Health packages have been developed to meet the educational needs of individuals who are interested in obtaining a degree in a discipline that encompasses a wide range of health-related fields. It focuses on three themes: the healthy individual; concepts of health; and the context within which individual health is defined and affected, including local and national policies.

In the first year you study concepts of health, the physiological basis of health and an introduction to public health. These are developed further in the following year, and in the final year, you undertake a critical review of the research literature on a health-related issue and examine the management of health. In the final year, you also have the opportunity to study health promotion, medical sociology, health policy, health care ethics and law and the global context of public health.

Health courses are taught by the School of Health and Social Care at the Avery Hill campus. Depending on your selected combination you may be required to travel between campuses.
