This programme offers teachers, future teachers and those involved in education and training an opportunity to learn about new technologies that have an impact on education. In particular, the programme examines the social and cultural impacts of the continuing evolution of technology.

Students are required to undertake personal reflection on the changes that they will need to make in order to exploit the benefits of new technologies. The BSc Hons programme includes courses in years 2 and 3 which study particular technologies, while courses in years 2 and 3 of the BA Hons programme have an educational focus.Students can opt to study an HND option which comprises of year 1 and year 2 content.

Aims of the programme

  • To develop and demonstrate an ability to analyse and research the impact of particular technologies on learning as a basis for making reasoned strategies and recommendations
  • To equip students with the skills to analyse and resolve education problems arising from technology-driven change
  • To equip students with the knowledge to change and update the delivery of learning to fully exploit the benefits of modern technology in terms of delivering a curriculum
