A 256-hectare estate containing woodland and aquatic habitats, landscape training centre, design studio and dedicated science laboratories

Practical work, plant identification tests, design portfolio presentations, reports and computer-aided design work

Professional recognition

This programme is recognised by the Landscape Institute and is a progression route towards full membership of this professional body

Career options

Graduates can find creative, managerial, advisory, consultancy and technical positions in the garden design, landscaping and horticultural industriesThis degree programme involves study of the creative arts in combination with natural sciences and the craft of the gardener. The subject encompasses a wide variety of activities that lie across the interface of art and science. New topics and interests are covered to stretch and stimulate the student.

Students are encouraged to develop design skills by taking opportunities to study examples of landscape and garden planning during the programme. There are optional visits to gardens, parks and landscapes and study tours in Europe.
