Making a positive difference to people's lives

Welcome to the Faculty of Education & Health. With over 100 years history of delivering education we are proud of our long-established reputation for providing high quality education and training. The University of Greenwich aims to transform the lives of students from a wide range of backgrounds by providing an education that enables them to become creative and confident contributors to society and as a faculty we ensure that our students graduate with the skills and knowledge needed to make a real difference to their communities.

Our teaching staff have both practical know-how and academic expertise; the faculty consistently receives high ratings from our students, for example in the in the National Student Survey, particularly in relation to the quality of our teaching.

Our programmes and courses lead to a wide choice of challenging and worthwhile careers, notably in teacher training, education studies, childhood and youth studies, early years, PE and sport, nursing, midwifery, paramedic science, public health, social work and psychology, as well as forming a basis for further study. We ensure that what you study is up-to-date and relevant to the workplace; all of our programmes have skills for employability built into them and meet the requirements of the relevant professional bodies.

The faculty aims to exemplify the very best practice in learning, teaching and assessment through, for example, the use of electronic media, interactive lectures and seminars, peer learning, tutorial and a wide range of resources. We are also proud of the pastoral care that we provide and have a reputation for supporting students to achieve their goals. Another vital ingredient in maximising the success of our students are the strong and the diverse partnerships we have developed to facilitate your professional experience and growth. We are also proud of the values we instil in our students which are embedded in the university strategic plan and reflect the values of the professions that we work with.

Our teaching and research facilities are excellent, for example our clinical skills laboratories replicate NHS wards, allowing trainee health professionals to get real hands-on experience, our teaching training facilities for design technology, PE, music and science and our psychology laboratories provide a strong basis for education and research in a wide range of scientific areas. Indeed, the faculty is one of the most diverse of its kind in the country where academic and professional programmes are supported by research and scholarship.

Our research in is at the forefront of innovation. As students you will be able to benefit from this both in courses you are taught and in meeting researchers who are leading in their fields.

If you would like to find out more about how we can help you to fulfill your potential, we would love to welcome you to one of our Faculty Open Events; we can also arrange for you to speak directly to a member of staff involved in leading our programmes.

I hope that if you to decide to join us you will find it a rewarding experience; our friendly, approachable and highly experienced staff are here to support you all the way, and we look forward to meeting you.
