Biography

Morag is Head of Department, Adult Nursing and Paramedic Science. She has held this post since 2009, during which time she has been a member of the Faculty executive/management team. Her current role has a focus on quality assurance, leadership, and management.

Morag has extensive experience of curriculum design, development, implementation and review, including: programme lead roles for post-qualifying and pre-registration provision; external examiner roles; and Project Lead to the 'Making a Difference Curriculum Development Project' for Pre-Registration Nursing and Midwifery programmes. Morag's more recent projects include Lead Responsible Officer in the NHSL tender process for adult nursing and engagement with the London CPPD tender.

Morag teaches a breadth of areas across a range of programmes. The primary focus of her teaching is biological sciences and the application of this to practice. Morag's clinical background is in accident and emergency care and her current engagement with practice through her link lecturer role spans a range of adult nursing clinical areas.

Additionally Morag has held key account manager responsibility; liaising and working with NHS partners to ensure education provision meets workforce requirement and demand.

Morag has a long standing and continued interest in teaching, learning and assessment.

Initially a Principal Lecturer for Teaching Excellence (2004), she subsequently achieved University Teaching Fellow status in 2007. Morag achieved membership of the Institute for Learning and Teaching in 2001 and has been a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2007.

Inter-professional Education in south east London (DoH) – Middle Years Working Group – project led by King's College London.

Research interests

Morag's research interests have previously focused on inter-professional education. Her MA explored academic staff and student experience of shared learning/ teaching. She is currently involved in group activity centring on guidelines for pain assessment in older adults.
