Teaching Fellow (Principal Lecturer)

Department of Adult Nursing & Paramedic Science

Faculty of Education and Health

Paul is a Teaching Fellow within the Faculty of Education and Health, University of Greenwich.  Paul originally trained as an Enrolled Nurse in 1982, since then he has developed a broad background in clinical practice, practice development and education.  He believes that patient care should be truly individualised and based on the best possible evidence. This belief also fuels his passion for teaching and creating environments that allow students to learn in both experiential and theoretical ways to deepen their knowledge of themselves and the patients for which they care.

Paul teaches across a wide range of undergraduate and post graduate courses, including adult nursing, clinical skills, professional issues, communication, research methodologies, evidence- based practice, educational theory, teaching skills and academic development.

Paul currently acts as a link teacher with a range of clinical areas at an acute NHS Trust, supporting students and mentors in practice. Paul provides educational advice and support for colleagues across the Faculty and is involved in the PG Cert HE so preparing new lecturers for their role in university and practice settings.

Paul also provides dissertation supervision for undergraduate and post graduate students and undertakes the role of personal tutor for adult nursing students and PG Cert HE students.

Paul has a keen interest in the performing arts and how they could influence teaching and learning within non- drama subjects in higher education, this has formed the basis for his doctoral research.
