Heather Ross is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Primary Education at the University of Greenwich.

Heather Ross originally studied economics and economic history at University College London, then applied her education towards many years' successful career working in the City as a corporate analyst, making recommendations to investors for the US banking sector.

Since becoming a mother she decided to change her career and trained for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at the University of Greenwich, then taught in an inner city school for at least 14 years before becoming a lecturer at the university.

Her teaching roles in the department have been varied but mainly focus on inspiring students to overcome their anxieties and develop enthusiasm for primary mathematics. Heather regularly holds workshops for primary teachers with a desire to improve mathematics' teaching in their schools, and developing open access material for teachers. 

Within the department, she is responsible for the BA Hons Year 2 mathematics courses and runs skills test support workshops for prospective students for both PGCE and BA Hons Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) programmes.

In recent years, her role has expanded and she is now responsible for delivering Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for a number of schools in the area via the Royal Greenwich Teaching School Alliance and the Education Teaching Alliance Lewisham.

Heather's research explores understanding negative attitudes to mathematics in primary school children.
