Iain Kitchener is Acting Head of the Department of Teacher Education at the University of Greenwich.
Iain initially read sociology and psychology and then worked for a number of years in community mental health in south London.

After completing a Post Graduate Certification in Education (PGCE) in 2002, at the University of London's Institute of Education, Iain taught in Bromley as a primary teacher in both Key Stages 1 and 2.

In 2007, joined the Primary department at the University of Greenwich, where he studied for a Master's degree in Education. Iain currently teaches on the QTS primary programmes, the accelerated primary degree which he leads and an option on the MA in Education.

Iain is a University Associate Teaching Fellow in recognition of teaching excellence. He is also Chair of the National Association of Primary Education, South East London and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Iain is also an external examiner.

Iain's work has been on the themes of: blended learning, change management and technology, choice in modes of assessment, control technology in primary education, e-portfolios, digital literacy and the future of accelerated degrees.
