Financing Your Studies
Tuition Fees
The annual tuition fees for full-time taught programmes are detailed on the Student Finance - International Students web page. The university reserves the right to change any fees at any time without notice. Fees will be subject each year to a small increase for inflation. The university will endeavour to minimise any increases.
A pre-registration deposit is required on all pre-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the time of accepting an offer. The deposit acts as part of the tuition fees and reduces the tuition fees payable on registration.
It is refundable only where the applicant provides evidence that the application for a student visa was not accepted for the year the academic offer was made. When an applicant defers their offer of place to the next university intake the deposit will be transferred to the new intake and will be refundable only where the applicant provides evidence that the application for a student visa was not accepted for that intake.
International students may receive a 5% discount on their net tuition fees, if they make full payment for the year by the end of September (for those registering on September programmes) or the end of January (for those registering on January programmes). MPharm and pre-sessional English language programmes are not eligible for this discount.
After your deposit and all other discounts are applied, the remaining balance can be paid in two equal payments. You will be asked to pay the first 50% of the balance at registration. For September starters the final payment will be due before the last Friday in January, and for January starters the final payment will be due before the last Friday in May.
A full time international student registering for a non-government funded postgraduate programme after successfully completing a degree programme at the University of Greenwich and registering with the University of Greenwich Alumni Association is eligible for a 10% reduction on the tuition fee after all scholarship and other bursaries are deducted from the standard fees.
Financial Assistance for Students from the USA
Financial assistance is available for American students studying at an overseas university through the Federal Stafford Loan Programme, please see our Student Finance pages for more information http://www.gre.ac.uk/students/finance/international-students
Living Costs
Living costs will of course vary depending on individual circumstances and lifestyle. The university recommends that a single student should budget between £6,400 and £7,500 for one academic year to cover costs including rent, energy, food, clothes, books, travel within London, and personal expenses for socialising and entertainment.
An international student studying on a student visa must be studying on a full-time programme. Details of fees payable to the UK government for processing extensions to visas are available at www.ukvisas.gov.uk.
