What we do IT and Library Services

If you are an undergraduate student, you can take advantage of a wide range of services including:

  • high speed network and wi-fi connectivity in residences and across campus
  • online learning resources through our student portal and VLE
  • e-mail,calendaring, and much more through Gmail
  • access to over 1000 desktop PCs with a wide range of software in locations across all campuses
  • networked printing / scanning / copying facilities

ILS provides:

  • network connections and internet access for users throughout the University, including wireless coverage for departments and public areas owned by the University
  • desktop IT support for staff, and within student labs and libraries.
  • support and development of core University administration systems in partnership with relevant departments
  • technical support: online, by telephone and in person via our Helpdesk
  • services to support teaching, learning and research, online learning environments and technological support for researchers and data organisation
  • services to support teaching, learning and research, including technological support for researchers.
  • comprehensive training and advice for staff and students
  • support, advice, consultancy and partnership working with Greenwich's distributed IT Support Staff to enable joined up delivery of IT services to all members of the University
  • professional services and consultancy to assist the University in its use and development of IT systems
  • three data centres and back-up services to ensure resilience for the University‚Äôs data
  • innovation and research to discover how new and existing technology can be applied usefully in the University

We also provide a wide range of services for staff, all of whom benefit from the latest collaboration tools based around Microsoft Exchange, plus at range of video-conferencing tools in conjunction with the Janet v-scene service (formally the Janet Video Conferencing Service). We operate the University's information systems including Banner (for student administration), Moodle (for online learning) and much more.
