Project Requests and Status Reports IT and Library Services

Current projects

The current portfolio of IT project & development work running across the university is monitored continuously.

Major IT projects that are actively managed by an ILS project manager and those IT projects managed by colleagues outside of the Programme Management Office are monitored and reported upon monthly.

The Project Status Report and IT Strategy Roadmap are produced monthly and provide a brief summary on the key aims of each project along with an update of progress in the last period and planned activity for the next period.

Each project is assessed for progress against time, cost and quality with an indicative red, amber or green status assigned accordingly.

The university's Project Status Report defines these statuses as follows:

  • Red – Project is experiencing a problem which means the agreed plan (in terms of cost/time/scope) needs to be adjusted.
  • Amber – Medium risk of timelines or project failing to deliver as originally planned.
  • Green – Project is proceeding to plan.

Request new work

Any request for new development work on any of the university's IT systems require a written request to be submitted using an Initial Project/Development Request Form (IPDR).

Each request for work is different and this form is intended to be a 'light-touch' starting point for colleagues to articulate either a business problem that requires an IT solution or to suggest a system that has already been identified as being necessary to solve a problem.

Once a completed form has been received your request for work will be formally entered into the university's IT governance process. A full explanation of what happens to your request can be found within the IT Governance section of this website.  

Before completing a request form please review the list of existing work requests, as your idea may already have been submitted and could be in progress or pending.
