The OSCARS (Off-campus Services Contact And Remote Support) service provides support for those studying on a Greenwich-validated programme in the Partner Colleges and other collaborative institutions, for distance learners, and for staff and students using the University’s Library and IT resources from home. It does this through its web pages and Portal channel, its “self-help” materials (e.g. on-line FAQs, guides, and tutorials), and its email-based and interactive help facilities. Information, training and inductions are provided in collaboration with other ILS services, in particular the campus Libraries.

OSCARS works closely with College Library staff to help them in their direct support of locally-based University students. Help and advice for academic staff managing collaborations is provided through regular liaison with the University’s Schools and their collaborative partners.

OSCARS and Library colleagues liaise with the suppliers of the University’s on-line electronic resources to maintain a definitive list of access entitlements for different categories of users.

The OSCARS and Portal on-line support forms will be incorporated into the new ILS service desk system during 2010/11.
