Learning Services

Learning Services (LS) operates the library and student computing facilities at each of the three campuses, Avery Hill, Greenwich and Medway. The services offered at each site are very similar, although the Drill Hall library at Medway serves three universities occupying a single campus, and because of this is inevitably a little different from the other two. The libraries all occupy buildings of considerable architectural merit, and consequently have a quite different atmosphere, whilst their book stock reflects the subjects taught by the Schools located on the campus concerned. This subject speciality is also reflected, although to a much lesser degree, by the software provided in each computer lab. The labs and libraries are either in one building or integrated together in one unit, but at Greenwich and Avery Hill there are additional computer labs in other locations around the campus, also operated by Learning Services staff.
The facilities are available for more than 100 hours per week during term-time, including late opening until midnight 7 days a week. A wide range of electronic information services are provided, many available for use off-campus, and some 600,000 volumes and 1000+ PCs are available for on-campus use. Learning Services also provides laptop drop-in zones, photocopying and printing, and self-service machines for the issue and return of books. Our staff in both the computer labs and libraries will do all they can to assist users who need help in using the facilities.
