Internet Explorer
Instructions for configuring your PC to use the University proxy server. These instructions are for broadband connections and Internet Explorer 7 and above.
- From the Tools menu select Internet Options.
- Click on the Connections tab.
- Click on LAN Settings.
- Tick the box marked Use a proxy server.
- Enter the Address as www-proxy.gre.ac.uk.
- Set the related Port to 3128.
- Click on OK.
- On the Connections screen click on OK.
- When you next use Internet Explorer, you will initially be prompted to enter your username and password in order to authenticate your status.
- When you no longer require to access the restricted resources you may turn off the proxy server by un-checking the Use a proxy server box on the LAN Settings screen. (See steps 1-4 above).
