Foundation for Success
This Project was funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and Learning and Skills Council (LSC) in 2006 to March 2007. The project raised awareness about and supported progression onto foundation degrees. It also supported the learning of foundation degree students in their first year. Foundation for Success had a particular focus on individuals employed within small- and medium-sized businesses.
The Project provided:
- Free information and advice about the foundation degree and relevant courses
- Free taster sessions
- Free certificated and credit-bearing courses before enrolment
- Free on-going support after enrolment.
Foundation degrees may be an attractive option for those wishing to improve their knowledge and skills, job prospects and salary, and also those seeking a change in career.
A combination of work and study is built into the foundation degree programme. This enables employees to gain skills that directly meet the needs of employers, with the potential to gain advancement within their line of work or through a career change. Work experience counts, and employees may be able to earn credit toward the degree simply through their existing work experience. Visit the foundation degree website for more information.
The project developed a number of study support materials for foundation degree students. These are now available on an open access basis.
