Brian Cato has been a quantity surveyor since 1986, working on commercial, residential, education and health schemes. Brian was an equity partner in a medium-sized practice before taking the decision to take up lecturing full time.

His professional experiences include expert witness roles, project management and claims consultancy. Brian’s main expertise is in estimating and residual land value calculations for national developers on schemes ranging from 150 homes to 1,100 homes. He has developed bespoke excel spreadsheets to enable developers to bid accurately for land in the marketplace.
