Michael Fanner is a Postgraduate Researcher in the Department of Family Care & Mental Health at the University of Greenwich.

Michael is a full-time MPhil/PhD student having been awarded a Vice Chancellor's Scholarship to undertake doctoral research on sexual and gender minority youth involved in commercial sex work. Michael is the research student representative for the MPhil/PhD Health and Social Care programme.

In addition to Michael's research study, he contributes to curriculum development, lecturing and project supervision components on various undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the faculty, including: BSc Hons Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting/School Nursing), BSc Hons Paramedic Science and MSc Advanced Practice (Safeguarding Children and Young People).

He is a qualified Community Practitioner Nurse Prescriber (V100), maintaining his clinical practice as a Bank Health Visitor within a NHS Universal and Safeguarding Children's Service in London, and also as a volunteer within St John Ambulance (London) as a District Safeguarding Officer.

Michael's research is on male sex workers; sexual exploitation of children and young people; and safeguarding children policy and practice.
