Times Higher Education said that analysis of university finances reveals a tremendous variation in the proportion of total income that goes on pay at individual institutions. The figure ranges from almost 70 per cent to below 50 per cent. At the lower end there is the University of Cambridge (45 per cent - although Cambridge's system of central and college pay may help to explain this low proportion), Greenwich (49 per cent), Liverpool Hope University (49 per cent), the University of Bedfordshire (49 per cent) and the University of East London (50 per cent).

The London Paper listed the Greenwich Events Management course in an article titled, So you wanna be a hospitality manager. The course was also mentioned in Exhibiting magazine.

Property developers Berkeley Homes donated funds which allowed Greenwich students to put on the drama festival last month according to the News Shopper.

Robert Mayor was one of the judges for the Young Enterprise Awards for Innovation by Greenwich and Lewisham students according to the Bexley News Shopper.

A Hungarian based Index website reported that Professor Steve Thomas Professor Steve Thomas from Public Services International Research Unit (PSIRU) stated that the nuclear industry is in decline at the Opportunities of nuclear energy in the 21st century conference in Budapest.

According to the New Zealand based Scoop website the newly appointed Wellington based BATS Theatre Programme Manager, Steph Walker, has recently completed a Masters in Arts Management at Greenwich.

Humanities & Social Sciences

A research project carried out by the University of Greenwich and funded by EU money has seen archivists from Kent and northern France working together as never before according to reports on BBC Online and BBC Radio Kent. The result is a bilingual exhibition charting the shared history of Channel communities from the 12th to the 20th century. The story also appeared in the Medway News.

Bexhill Observer reported that Rother council's new Director of Resources Malcolm Johnston has an MSc in Environmental Health from Greenwich.

The Greenwich News Shopper reported that Graphic Design student, Gary Saunders, won the design competition organised by the Metropolitan Police Service Film Unit and KnowledgeEast.

Education & Training

Eastbourne Herald said that Eastbourne Town football clubs defender Ben Putland, who is a Physical Education and Sport student at Greenwich has been a key factor in Eastbourne Town's Ryman League South division one survival this season.

In a letter published in Times Higher Education Patrick Ainley disputed that academics are solidly behind diplomas as claimed by Claudio Vagnali.

Dr Ven Veeramah had a paper published in the British Journal of Nursing with the title 'Exploring strategies for promoting the use of research findings in practice'.

According to Occupational Therapy News a new dissertation from Sue Pimental titled Turning words into actions: Setting client centred goals and measuring outcomes in a wheelchair service is available from the College of Occupational Therapists' (COT) library.

Jean Shepherd, Senior Lecturer, looked at the implications of student nurses aged under 21 years old for retention in Paediatric Nursing.

School of Engineering

According to Structural Engineer Yang Shangtong presented a poster on Concrete cracks widths at the Young Researchers’ conference.

In Chemical Engineer Richard Farnish from the Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology had an article published on Elutriation, the process for separating lighter particles from heavier ones using a vertically-directed stream of gas or liquid and charge build up.

School of Science

The Medway Standard, Medway Messenger and News Shopper publicised the new Science laboratories.

According to Medway Messenger, Kent Online, Medical News Today and Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre websites a potential treatment for multiple sclerosis (MS), developed by Greenwich in association with Kings College, has begun clinical trials.

Dr Jerry Cross from East Malling Research has been awarded the title of Visiting Professor in Horticultural Entomology by Greenwich according to Horticulture Week.

The Universities at Medway, secondary schools and Mid Kent College are offering new diplomas for 14 to 19 year olds giving them hands on experience of industry according to the Medway Standard.

Medway Messenger reported that the Universities at Medway was hosting a meeting about the Medway Local Area agreement.

According to the Medway Messenger and Medway Extra the Pembroke Lectures have been nominated for the Medway Culture and Design Awards.

The latest Pembroke lecture explores the history of Chatham with a musical accompaniment according to Your Medway.

Medway’s Aliquot Flow played at the University of Greenwich at Medway Purple Bar according to Your Medway.

The UMSA Bars were awarded the Best Bar None title from the National Union of Students according to the Medway Adscene.

According to Kent on Sunday and Transport News Network this year’s winner of the Kent Innovation Challenge received a cash prize and support from a number of organisations including Greenwich.

Medway Messenger, Medway Extra, Your Medway, Medway News and Medway Standard gave advance publicity to the Boat Race.

Evening courses ranging from criminology to creative writing are available at the campus according to Kent Online, Medway Standard and Medway Messenger.
