Architecture & Construction

The Politics.co.uk website had a story saying that the Chartered Institute of Building had received 100 enquiries for the Graduate Diploma Programme that Greenwich is involved in. This allows the recruitment into the construction industry of graduates from any discipline.

According to the Rugby Football Union website, Accounting & Finance student Oyo Prince, plays rugby for the London Scottish club.

According to Marine Engineers Review the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) has the long term ambition of links with the University of Greenwich.

The new Information Technology Management for Business degree backed by employers appeared in the Evening Standard.

According to the Medway Messenger, Kent Online and Hastings & St Leonards Observer business experts are giving a series of lectures on the campus as part of the degree.

School of Science

International Travel Daily News website said that Harold Goodwin, Director of the International Centre for Responsible Tourism, was one of the panellists at the World Travel Market exhibition held in the Excel Conference Centre in Docklands.

The Daily Mail featured the story of Environmental Science graduate, Alex Patrick (nee Ritchie), who unable to have children received extraordinary help from her sisters. One donated eggs and the other a surrogate mother.

Natural Resources Institute

According to Aberdeen Press & Journal former member of staff Professor Maggie Gill has been appointed as a top scientific adviser to the Scottish Executive’s environment and rural affairs department.

Chemical Weekly (India) reported on the launch of the South Asian Society for the Advancement of Pheromone Technology in Chennai, India. The project was led by Dr Alan Cork.

General campus news

Kent on Sunday had an article on an Aim Higher Kent & Medway event to promote university life to local sixth formers. It also mentioned that Greenwich is part of the Medway Progression Compact which prepares them for Higher Education.

The Medway Messenger and the Medway Standard reported on the lecture about the contribution of Chatham Dockyard to Nelson’s victory and also gave advance publicity to the My Great, Great Grandad was at Trafalgar lecture.

An article about the new Universities at Medway website appeared in the Medway Standard and Medway Messenger.

The Medway Messenger, Kentish Gazette, Herne Bay Gazette, Kent Messenger, Faversham News and Kent Online said that Greenwich is part of a consortium of eight universities called KnowledgeEast which aims to drive business development and regeneration in the Thames Gateway.

The Medway Standard and Medway Messenger said that Louisse and Tony Major who are graduates of Greenwich were the winners of the competition for a laptop computer held among those who attended the Medway Campus Open Day.

Members of the Royal Naval Association met at the campus to celebrate the 60th anniversary of VE and VJ Day and the 200 anniversary of the Trafalgar according to the Medway Standard.

Kent Director said that Greenwich is one of the major occupiers at Chatham Maritime in an article about a new Lloyd’s of London building there.

The Daily Telegraph said that Paul Filmer had been appointed Chaplain to Greenwich and the University of the Creative Arts in Rochester.

The Financial Times mentioned Greenwich in an article about the increased investment in Chatham Maritime.

The University of Greenwich is one of the partners in the project to develop a science park next to Rochester Airport according to Medway Messenger and Kent Online.
