The Independent Education Diary commenting on the opening of the new buildings at Avery Hill said one of Tessa Blackstone’s ambitions was to create a beautiful building on campus. They continued that architecture is one of her passions and she is also chair of RIBA Trust.
According to the Times, Greenwich graduate F.C Aitchinson graduated as an officer in the same Sovereign’s Parade at Sandhurst as Prince William.
According to the Bexley Times biographer Dr David Burke, who gained his PhD from Greenwich in 1997, is due to have his book on the former Russian spy Melita Norwood The Spy Who Came in from the Co-op published.

Terry Ferns had a paper published in the Nursing Standard about violence, aggression and physical assault in healthcare.
Terry Ferns was quoted in the Nursing Times saying that there was little evidence of increases in the number of nurses in general wards.

According to Garden magazine an award winning garden designed by two Greenwich graduates, Fern Alder and David Griseley, has opened in France.
Greenwich graduate Robert Maxey has joined Nottingham surveyors Heb according to Nottingham Evening Post.

Two new buildings were opened at the campus according to the News Shopper and Bexley Mercury, Greenwich Mercury. The News Shopper had earlier given advance publicity to the opening.
The Charlton FC annual report referred to their indoor sports facility at Avery Hill.

According to the Legal News section of the Times Law student Angella Brown from Greenwich received a Tancred Studentship.
Ella Roberts, who is studying for degree in Creative Writing and English, was the focus of an article in the Newham Recorder which looked at her debut novel The Run: London’s Secret.
The Eastbourne Gazette reported that Jodie Scott has graduated with a BA in English.

The Times Online said that L’Oréal is sponsoring a salon management course at Greenwich in an article about how hairdressing is beginning to compete with alternative careers.

Computing & Mathematical Sciences
The continuing involvement of Greenwich with the renovation of the Cutty Sark was reported on by the Greenwich Mercury, Bexley Mercury, Lewisham News Shopper, Medway Messenger and Times Higher Education Supplement. Chris Bailey and Stoyan Stoyanov developed software to predict how the wood and metal components would behave during renovation.
There was renewed interest sparked by a press release by the Stress Management Society in a light hearted formula produced by Tony Mann about how and when shoppers lose enthusiasm for buying Christmas presents (This Amazon press release dates from December 2004). School of Engineering
Kent Business had a profile on the new Medway Chair of Manufacturing Engineering, Professor Gao. The story also appeared in the Times Higher Education Supplement, Medway Standard and Medway Messenger.
According to the Dunmow Broadcast & Recorder an award winning product designed to make blind people's lives easier was helped in the design stage by Engineering students.
Leah and Graham Hunter, whose company Somerwood makes a wide variety of walking aids, received the award at the International Innovation Conference, held in Estonia.
The Information Technology Management for Business degree was praised in a Universities UK publication citing it as a good example of courses meeting the needs of business, according to the Medway Messenger and Kentish Saturday Observer.
A new public health engineering degree is planned at Greenwich according to the Medway Messenger.
Bulk Solids Today listed a number of courses that the Wolfson Centre will be running next year.
School of Science
Kent Business reported on the award of the Green Technology Award for Carbon8 Systems, a spin-out company from Greenwich.
According to her article in the Daily Telegraph Catherine Mack who has recently completed a MSc in Responsible Tourism Management resolved to become a responsible traveller in 2007.
Natural Resources Institute
New Scientist reported on a relatively low–tech approach to managing insecticide use developed at NRI that is making the production of cotton again profitable for tens of thousands of Indian farmers.
General campus news
The Universities at Medway project was praised by Ruth Kelly MP, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government according to the Medway Messenger & Medway Standard.
Greenwich students from the volunteering programme helped young patients at Medway Maritime Hospital make cards, tree decorations and calendars according to the Medway Messenger.
According to FX magazine the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) says that it important that there are benefits to the local communities of the developments in the Thames Gateway. They cited the development of the Medway campus by Greenwich was cited as a prime example.
Professor Alan Reed looked at Greenwich’s links with the maritime sector and the visit by students from New Brompton College to Sports Science in his regular column for Kent Profile.
A record number of international students have chosen to study at the Medway campus according to the Medway Messenger and KM Extra.
