Medway News reported that BBC Olympic commentator Stuart Storey had been awarded an honorary degree by Greenwich.

According to the Gravesend Reporter, Bexley Times and Dartford Times, Greenwich is offering a host of free courses for 13 to 19 year olds.

Stuart Etherington, Chief executive of NCVO, has been appointed chair of court at Greenwich according to Medway Messenger, Charity Times, KM Extra and Third Sector.

Architectural Technologists Datafile reported that Keith Clarke, Chief Executive of Atkins, has received an honorary degree from Greenwich.

Greenwich is charging £2,900 for tuition fees in 2009/10 according to Times Higher Education.

Medway Messenger and Medway News reported that Keith Clarke, Chief Executive of Atkins and BBC Olympic commentator Stuart Storey have been awarded honorary degrees by Greenwich. There was also information about the degree ceremonies and procession down Rochester High Street.

According to West End Extra, Yanick Muzuyi from Quinton Kynaston School who is originally from the Congo is coming to Greenwich after receiving his A-level results.

On the Australian Visa Bureau and Employment4students websites Dr Margaret Noble said that many students take a year out to broaden their horizons and experiences while others use it for financial reasons.

Serving Ghurka soldiers and their families completed a course to help them get into the world of business, according to the Folkestone Herald and Dover Express.

Emma George from Orpington College, who was the subject of the Student Profile in the News Shopper, is planning to study Primary Teaching at Greenwich.

The Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail, London Paper, News Shopper, Medway Messenger, Your Medway, Wharf, Dover Express, Your Canterbury, Your Ashford, Your Maidstone, Your Dover, Your Shepway, Your Swale, Your Thanet, and Kent on Sunday included advice from Beverley Woodhams, Head of Central Recruitment, on how to approach Clearing. Beverley was also interviewed on Invicta FM and KMFM (Medway) radio.

Dr Margaret Noble was interviewed about Clearing by Independent Radio News (the main provider of news to commercial stations across the UK including London), Hope FM (Hampshire and Dorset), Mercia FM (Essex) and City Talk (Liverpool).

Dr Liz Bacon was interviewed on Sky News Radio (the second biggest provider of news to commercial stations including TalkSport and LBC), Sunrise Radio (national Asian station) and Rock Radio (Scotland, North-East and Manchester).

Dr John Newbery was interviewed for South London Radio, Severn Sound Radio (Gloucestershire) and StarFM (Cambridgeshire).

He also appeared on Meridian TV (ITV regional news programme for Kent & Sussex) about the Clearing process.

The Guardian used a large photo of the Greenwich operation in an article about Clearing.

The Evening Standard, Financial Times, Eastern Daily Press, Grimsby Telegraph, MSN Money, Press Association, Channel 4 News, GAAP, News Shopper, Medway Messenger and BeatthatQuote.com reported that a YouGov poll for Greenwich had found that potential students do not know enough about grants available and overestimate how much they are likely to have to pay back.

Law student Neelima Begum was an example of a student who used the Clearing process in the Times.

An article in the Daily Express focussing on K College said that courses were accredited by Greenwich.

Kent on Sunday, Kentish Saturday Observer and News Shopper gave details of Clearing, Open Days and the new BSc in Forensic Science and Criminology.

Times Higher Education reported on the extended opening hours of the Clearing operation which opened at 10pm the night before A-level results came out.

Claire Evenden advised students not to be swayed by freebies and gimmicks in an article about student finance in the Independent. Claire also drew attention to the financial help available to students in the London Paper and Kent on Sunday.

Jonathan Chandler, Head of Accommodation Services, gave advice on finding accommodation at university in a Clearing article in the Independent.

Guardian Online reported that Greenwich had extended opening hours for the Clearing helpline.

Public Relations student Katie Wilkinson is the star of a web video aimed at dispelling some of the myths surrounding the cost of going to university according to the Medway Messenger, Bexley Mercury, KM Extra and Greenwich Mercury. Katie was also interviewed by BBC Radio Kent about the film.

On the Yahoo News, AFP, Pakistan based Daily Times, Garavi Gujarat Net websites James Kennell from the Business School, which hosted a conference on the Games this year, said London would struggle to learn direct lessons even from other Western Olympic cities like Athens and Sydney.

The Wharf reported that Events Management student Caleen Campbell is organising a music event in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID).

"London definitely could take lessons from how the [Beijing] Games were run," says James Kennell, senior lecturer in Tourism and Urban Renewal, according to US based website Business Week. He added that investments made in the run up to London 2012 will add more than $3 billion to the country's gross domestic product over the next four years.

Tanzanian based website Daily News reported that the Institute of Information Technology was offering a degree course in Business Studies in conjunction with Greenwich.

In Prospect magazine Stephen Thomas said that E.ON’s estimate of the operating costs of a new nuclear reactor is £80 to generate a kW of electricity for an hour — a measurement known as a kilowatt hour (kWh). School of Engineering

Wet News, Medway Messenger and KM Extra reported that a new Public Health Engineering degree from Greenwich will help manage dwindling water supplies as demand increases in the Thames Gateway.

Kent Profile, Kent on Sunday and Kentish Saturday Observer reported that the school has been given funding from the Prime Minister’s Initiative to develop a partnership in Malaysia to increase the numbers of their engineers.

Professor Alan Reed has been awarded the Bulk Solids Handling Award by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, according to Quarry Management.

According to the Sheppey Gazette, Faversham Gazette, and East Kent Gazette, Ronnie Fitzgerald from Minster College is coming to Greenwich to study Engineering.

School of Science

According to Farmers Weekly, Weald Granary, a farmer owned co-operative has with Greenwich trialled different methods of crushing domestic oilseed rape to produce biofuel.

Dr Alpha Tejan Wurie, former Minister of Education in Sierra Leone and visiting researcher in the school, has been made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), according to the Sierra Leone based Awareness Times website.

Medway Messenger reported on the graduation ceremonies at Rochester Cathedral and the awarding of honorary degrees to Stuart Story and Keith Clarke from Atkins. According to Kent on Sunday, BBC commentator and former athlete Stuart Storey was awarded an honorary degree at one of the ceremonies.

According to Medway Messenger, Greenwich has been recognised for its continuing commitment to helping teenagers in care get into higher education by being given the Frank Buttle Trust Quality Mark for Care Leavers.
