Submission Guidelines

Header Sheets

All coursework must be accompanied with a header sheet. You can only print a header sheet for a course to which you are correctly assigned in Banner. You must check that your programme of study is correct, if it is not then you must complete a course change form. This form needs to be countersigned by the appropriate lecturer as shown on the form. If you cannot print a header sheet, either because you have not registered for the course or because you have a debt to the university, your work will not be accepted. This is not an extenuating circumstance.

You need to access Banner in order to print your header sheets. This can be accessed via the The Portal.

  • Click on the 'My Learning' tab.
  • On the right hand side under Student Records (Banner) click on 'Print Coursework Header Sheets'.
  • Your ID number should appear.
  • If you know the header sheet number, you can put this in, and click 'Submit'.
  • If you do not know the number, click 'Submit' and all the header sheets for the courses which you are registered on will appear.
  • Select the one you want and print it out.
For further guidance on using BannerWeb go to the Banner site

Hand In

All coursework must be submitted to The School Office (R111 – Reception), where you will be given a receipt.

Before your join the queue, your work must be:

  • Bound securely and complete (extra sheets etc. will NOT be accepted after hand in)
  • Attached to the appropriate header sheet.

You must keep an electronic copy, and may be asked for it.

To hand in coursework, please queue at Reception and do not block the doorway. For other enquiries, except at very busy times, there will be another member of the student support staff available to assist you.

Portfolio submission

Portfolios are submitted to the North or South Studios. Times of submission vary. This information will be detailed on the header sheet

You will require TWO header sheets. One header sheet is securely attached to your portfolio, the other is submitted to the School Office for receipting.

Don't leave it too late!

You are advised not to hand in work on the last day and that lunchtime queues are likely to be the longest.

The School Office will be open for coursework submission from 9.00 a.m. and  4.30 pm. Coursework will NOT be accepted after 4.30pm.

Late Work and Extenuating Circumstances

The University enforces a strict policy regarding adherence to submission deadlines.

All coursework submitted within 10 working days of the official submission deadline, established by the course coordinator, will be graded as 0% unless a claim for extenuating circumstances is also submitted within 10 working days and subsequently accepted as valid. If there are valid reasons for you to submit your work late you must submit a claim for extenuating circumstances which should be received by the Office of Student Affairs or to the school office up to 10 working days after the coursework submission deadline. The extenuation circumstances claim form can be found on the university website via Current Students and the Student Centre Online.

Further information can be found in The Student Handbook

Work put under the door or handed to a member of staff or left on the Reception desk will not be receipted or submitted for marking.
