A School of Architecture and Construction student

Part of the school's 2005 exhibition

Part of the school's 2005 exhibition

The School of Architecture, Design & Construction is the result of a merger between the former Schools of Architecture & Landscape and Land & Construction Management. Anyone wondering where to study any of the programmes now offered by the School would be hard-pressed to find a rival in London. Its international, cultural and educational strengths provide a rich environmental stimulus in which to study a variety of design-based and other built environment disciplines, such as real estate, housing, construction, urban design, garden design, graphic design, surveying and 3D digital design.

The programmes we run open doors to a wide range of exciting and creative careers. Most are related to the design and construction industries: landscape, architecture, graphics, building and management. We produce sought-after graduates and many employers encourage them to return for postgraduate degrees, diplomas or professional practice courses. Most programmes can be taken full-time or part-time. Some are available in distance learning mode and students can switch their mode of study to suit their circumstances.

New Building

The University of Greenwich has submitted a planning application for a new building in Greenwich to be home to the campus library, the School of Architecture & Construction and other facilities including TV studios and editing suites. This will allow more of the university’s activities to be based in Greenwich, near the main part of its campus in the Old Royal Naval College.

More information about this scheme is available on the Stockwell Street website.

Research

We blend teaching with research and consultancy to ensure that academic programmes are up-to-date and linked to the professions they serve. The School is committed to pure research and also to applied research in collaboration with professional bodies, industry and public sector organisations.

Professional Accreditation

Most of our programmes are accredited by, and lead to membership of, the relevant professional bodies. These include the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the Architects Registration Board (ARB), the Landscape Institute (LI), the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

Study Centres Overseas

University staff regularly visit the Far East and have close contacts with many universities and colleges. Links include collaboration with research or pathways. Professional activities include research and consultancy for industry.Through such links, students can be sure not only that their qualifications are of a high quality but that they also reflect the needs of their local business.

In keeping with the close association students develop with the university, there is a thriving Malaysian Students' Society and a Hong Kong branch of the Alumni Association. Indeed, students from the Far East have their own award ceremonies in Hong Kong and Malaysia.
