Brooking Collection Workshops
PERIOD ARCHITECTURAL FEATURES AUTUMN 2009 WORKSHOPS
These workshops are designed to give a maximum of eight participants an understanding of the historic evolution of the window, door, staircase and cast iron features in British architecture. They can be booked as individual workshops at £75 per workshop or as a full series of five for £300 exclusive of VAT.
Each workshop is built around observation of original items selected from the collection of architectural detail housed on the Maritime Campus of the University of Greenwich, with emphasis on hands-on examination. The teaching, provided by the collection’s founder Charles Brooking, will be accompanied by “handling sessions” during which participants have an opportunity to compare period detailing of various dates, take notes, sketches or photographs. With each workshop there is a substantial set of notes, including photographs and sketches of the materials studied.
