The School of Education and Training offers Secondary education programmes for students who want to train to teach young people in secondary schools. All programmes are a mixture of learning at the University together with periods of practical teaching experience in our partner schools and colleges.

All secondary teacher training programmes take place at our Avery Hill Campus and lead to a recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the appropriate university award.

Student Associates Scheme

The Student Associates Scheme is a national initiative for students interested in gaining valuable classroom experience while pursuing their studies. In addition to training and the chance to work alongside experienced teachers there is a bursary for all placements on the scheme.
