The School of Engineering is organised as four departments: Civil Engineering, Engineering Systems, Computer and Communications Engineering, and Business and Information Technology Management (B.I.T.E.). We offer a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in traditional and information age engineering, including:

• Civil Engineering • Marine Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering • Software Engineering
• Computer Networking • Engineering Management
• Electrical and Electronic Engineering
• Communications Systems Engineering
• Information and Communications Technology
• Games and Entertainment Systems Software Engineering
• Information Technology Management

Most undergraduate degrees have postgraduate equivalents at MSc and we also welcome enquiries from students wishing to study for research degrees. Research in the school is wide ranging with specialist centres in Advanced Manufacturing (EMERG), Bulk Solids Handling (Wolfson Centre), Innovative Product Development (CIPD), and Telecommunications Engineering.

The school has been a vital part of its institution since 1890, and the breadth and diversity of subjects covered is a key strength. As well as ensuring that students receive an education that will enable them to succeed in the multidisciplinary world of engineering in the 21st century information age, this key strength is also reflected in the full range of engineering consulting, design, research and development services we offer to business and industry, both locally and nationally.
