In addition to its core business, the School of Engineering offers a number of short courses designed to meet the needs of manufacturing industry. Within the Renishaw Centre for Manufacturing Productivity, the current portfolio includes:
The Renishaw Productive Process Pyramid™
Over two days of intensive training, attendees will use a case study based on the manufacturing concept developed by Renishaw. Topics include design for manufacture, control of process inputs, environmental stability, machine performance optimization, tracking machine geometry changes, process set-up, in-cycle process control and on-machine verification. This short course is intended for senior managers and engineers who intend to introduce process improvements in their own workplaces.
Introduction to Computer Aided Design and Rapid Manufacture
The School of Engineering offers this introductory two day course which includes demonstrations and practical sessions using 3-D computer aided design tools and associated software for CNC machine tools and rapid manufacturing systems. Attendees will also program CNC machine tools by manual data input, use probing and carry out rapid manufacture by fusion deposition. This course is intended for technicians who have experience of conventional machining techniques and who may wish to adapt their skills for use with new technology.
