Personal Profile:
My professional background is the care of both children and adults with Intellectual Disabilities working within the community. My experience includes managing a residential / respite service for children with intellectual disabilities and additional needs (challenging behaviour, sensory needs, physical disabilities and complex health needs), managing a community home for adults with intellectual disabilities and additional complex needs and for nine years as a service manager for a residential service for adults with intellectual disabilities and / with additional needs.
I also have experience of training across a learning disability directorate including adult protection, working as a key member of the Clinical Governance group within the directorate with the main focus being on training and development of staff (qualified nurses and non-nurses) and I was also involved in developing and carrying out clinical audits within the organisation.
I am currently involved in teaching at both pre-registration levels and continuing professional development.
