Jillian trained at Dartington and has worked in theatre as a performer, director and teacher since 1987. She has produced and toured theatre all over the UK and in Europe with her own companies, as well as working freelance.
Jillian has mostly worked on new plays and theatre with particular physical and visual styles. This has included devising with writers, ensemble physical theatre and site-specific performance. She runs drama workshops (on request) and most recently directed an Irish play for the London fringe.
Education and research
University of Greenwich 2004-07 MA Media Arts Philosophy & Practice - Distinction. Studied Contemporary Political Philosophy, Aesthetics and Video Prodction. Practice-based research around spontaneity, improvisation and the nature of play-time. Led and filmed children and adult performance and other arts workshops, editing the findings into a short film entitled Not Knowing What's Next.
Dartington College of Arts 1983-87 BA Hons. Theatre. Specialising in movement, with acting & directing and writing for performance.
Other theatre training - David Glass, John Wright, Peta Lily, Enriche Pardo, Frankie Armstrong. More recently, Leonie Kubigsteltig, Choric Theatre forms.
