English

The study of English literature is the study of how meaning has been created, communicated and understood, and of how authors and readers have responded to the world and the society in which they live.
The BA Hons English programme at Greenwich is designed to develop your analytical, theoretical and historical understanding of literary texts. You will come into contact with the work of major literary figures, with the major artistic and literary trends that have shaped the development of English literature, and with the key theoretical terms used in the academic study of English.
You’ll also be able to extend your knowledge and understanding of other media (the English degree includes classes on drama and film) and to extend your practical skills (English and/with Drama and English and/with Creative Writing both include practical classes).
The English Team are part of the English and Performance Studies Research Group which incorporates work in English, Drama, and Creative Writing, with particular specialisation in Contemporary Studies on London, Jungian Theory, and Romanticism.
