Qualifications
BA [Hons] in English and History. Manchester Metropolitan University
MA in English/Cultural Studies. University of Birmingham
PhD in English/Cultural Studies. University of Birmingham.
Research
Comparative literature, especially in the areas of Gothic and Fantasy.
Critical Theory and the theorisation of trauma especially in the work of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Derrida.
Dr Brown has organised two recent conferences at the University of Greenwich. 'The Metropolitan Imaginary' [2004] and 'Fusion Cultures' [2006].
She is currently working on the forthcoming conference. 'Fusion Cultures 2. : The Avant-garde and the Popular' for 2008.
