Simon is a widely experienced journalist and writer. He has features credits in a range of national newspapers, as well as in many niche publications. He created and co-wrote the Beginners' Guide column in The Times. He is also a specialist arts sub-editor, currently for The Independent, and has edited several niche magazines. He trained as a news journalist with Reed Midland newspapers.
In television he has been a science journalist for Channel 5 News, a regular current-affairs pundit on The Wright Stuff, and appeared on Sky News and many other current affairs programmes. On radio he devised and presented the Today's Tomorrow science and technology slot on Talk Radio and then BBC Radio London. He has guested regularly on Simon Fanshawe's radio show.
In the digital world he pioneered online radio by co-founding London Unlimited, which became Big Broadband plc. Earlier he developed content for the first web-phones, and before that helped develop teletext, editing a substantial portion of ITV Oracle.
In the creative arts, Simon was for many years a stand-up comedian and improvised comedy performer, experiences that he used for his play “Death of a Comedian”. He has written comedy for many shows on radio and TV, including Rory Bremner's long-running series. He is also a singer-songwriter. He has written for the West End stage, and his debut solo album, “Tell the Truth”, was released in 2009.
