BA (Hons) Creative Writing

This programme gives students the opportunity to explore a variety of writing in different forms and genres, including fiction, poetry, playwriting and screenwriting. Students begin by experimenting with all forms of writing and then are able to specialise in their areas of specific interest.
Courses allow for students to work in particular forms, on subjects of their choosing, guided and helped by tutors.
Teaching takes the form of two-hour workshops in which students write, discuss and share their work. Assessment consists of portfolios of creative writing produced each term alongside course journals in which students reflect on and analyse the development of their writing processes.
A degree in creative writing equips students with the skills to work in a variety of textual forms, both producing and analysing text. The programme develops the essential skills of communication, independent research, self-discipline and teamwork valued by employers in a wide range of areas, while also allowing students to develop their writing voice and pursue thier interest in writing.
