The department brings together 19 academic staff who teach and research across four subject areas – history, philosophy, politics and sociology. Single and combined honours degree programmes are offered.
All students are encouraged to explore the interrelationships between historical, philosophical, political and sociological issues and to think critically and independently.
Many of our courses provide opportunities for work placements and independent research and all of our degree programmes are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to pursue a wide range of professional careers.
The department incorporates research interests from the key disciplines of sociology, politics, history and philosophy. All members of the team are active in carrying out research in their specialist areas and participating in local, national and international events including workshops and conferences held on the Greenwich Campus.
