Spanish

The Spanish team comprises three linguists whose research and teaching interests range from Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, and Second Language Acquisition to Castilian and Latin-American Spanish.
Spanish is among the most widely spoken modern languages in the world with over 300 million speakers world-wide. It is an official language in such diverse places as North America, Central America, South America and Africa as well as Spain itself, and the many different kinds of Spanish that exist ensure that the language remains central to a thriving variety of cultures.
Modern linguists are among the most sought-after graduates in Britain, and their knowledge as well as their transferable skills ensure that, according to recent surveys, they have among the lowest unemployment levels. Indeed many companies today operate in a global market, and have overseas partners and contracts. Many of them therefore need employees with language skills. If you study a language within your degree, your job prospects could improve radically.
