This course aims to examine central issues in Second Language Acquistion research. All approaches are reviewed and assessed, from Generative Grammar to the Sociocultural approaches. Each lecture reviews a theory/group of theories of second language acquisition. In the second half of each lecture, students develop their critical understanding of course content by commenting on book chapters and articles set as homework reading.
