Cécile Laval is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Linguistics, Internation Studies and French. She is Programme Leader for International Studies and teaches on a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in applied linguistics, second language acquisition, second language instruction, French and International Studies.


Research Interests

Dr Cécile Laval is an academic scholar in the area of second language acquisition theories, second language teaching and applied linguistics, with a particular interest in input processing and processing instruction. She is also interested in the use of ICT for independent language learning and the development of e-learning materials for language teaching.

She has given invited conference papers and guest lectures in universities in the UK, the USA, Greece and France.

She has been directing an enterprise project called "Games Challenge Language & Culture Awareness Training" in French, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese tailored for Games volunteers and designed to develop their second language skills to prepare for, participate in and contribute to the 2012 Games.
