Natural Resources Institute

The Natural Resources Institute (NRI) is an internationally recognised multi-disciplinary centre for research, consultancy and education for the management of natural and human resources.

As a specialist institute of the University of Greenwich at the Medway Campus, NRI offers postgraduate courses at Master's level in aspects of natural resources management, including food safety, and a range of short courses for continuing professional development in these subjects. We also provide postgraduate research opportunities for PhD degrees in natural resources management.

NRI's academic staff are skilled in a wide range of disciplines in the natural and social sciences. The Institute's research and consultancy is particularly focused on the management of renewable natural resources in countries with developing and emerging economies, and most of its staff have extensive experience of working and living in these countries. NRI's research, consultancy and training achievements on food security in the developing world has won numerous awards and prizes at the highest levels.

NRI's international research and consultancy work is undertaken in collaboration with many different governmental, academic, commercial and civil society organisations worldwide, and the nurturing of these partnerships is central to NRI's role both in international development assistance programmes and as a centre of excellence in the UK higher education sector.
